My Apple Photos RAW Workflow
I switched from an SLR to iPhones for photography a couple of years ago.
I like to shoot RAW and haven’t figured out a good workflow for RAW → Compressed photos.
My goal is to be able to shoot RAW have photos moved off the device and Photos app, process and save the files I care about in a compressed form and put back on my device.
I think I finally cracked it.
This is still a WIP but here’s where I’m at.
- Shoot RAW on iPhone → save to Photos.
- Periodically run the excellent tool osxphotos and export my library to disk outside of Photos.
- Edit external photos using Nitro
- Export the ones I care about back into Photos
It’s a bit hacky and I wish Apple had better tooling around this but it seems to work.
